IBM provides the DB2® family and Informix® Dynamic Server customers with several downloadable products at no-charge. The purpose of these "no-charge" database features is to improve the productivity of database administrators and accelerate application development. During these very difficult economic conditions and strained resources, employee productivity is of more importance than ever. Therefore, to improve productivity and learn about available tools, this presentation will explore the following IBM® no-charge database features of: IBM Data Studio, IBM Data Server Client, Optimization Service Center and the IBM .Net Add-Ins. These features provide many abilities such as; supporting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), create database objects, compare table objects, create SQL and help in problem identification. This presentation will focus the following IBM databases: DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows, and DB2 for z/OS. The ultimate goal if the presentation is to improve productivity and show how easy it is to work the IBM family of databases, review new features and help with database migration planning.

| Hang on to your hat for a whirlwind "end-2-end" tour of distributed application connectivity to DB2 z/OS. The purpose of this presentation is to provide an "end-2-end" overview of distributed connections to DB2 z/OS, from the client all the way to z/OS Workload Manager. Given distributed transactions cross many different business organizations, gaining an understanding of the "big picture" of a distributed transaction is difficult. The goal of this presentation is to provide a high level view of distributed transactions, trying to de-mystifying the behavior of DB2 z/OS distributed workloads. During the presentation there will be focused attention on application: availability, resiliency, capacity planning and workload prioritization. New DB2 9.x Linux/Unix/Windows Client features and DB2 9 for z/OS migration considerations will also be covered. Agenda
