Meeting Schedule:
| 8:30 – 9:00 | Registration | |
| 9:00 – 10:15 | Scaling OLTP Applications on DB2 for LUW with Clustering Technology | |
| Paul Westfall, IBM | ||
|
Organizations running online transaction processing (OLTP) applications on distributed systems that require high availability can now utilize cluster technology similar to DB2 for z/OS shared-disk storage that enables multiple nodes to operate against a single physical database. This delivers scalability, high-availability and the ability to load balance. This presentation will explain in detail how it works and how it compares with other high availability solutions available for DB2 for LUW. |
||
| 10:15 – 10:30 | Coffee Break | |
| 10:30 – 11:45 | Revolutionizing the Data Abstraction Layer | |
| Curt Cotner, IBM | ||
|
Looking for a more flexible and efficient way for Java programs to access the database? Join us as we explore how you can bridge the gap between Java and relational databases. Enhance your Java environment with access layer generation, data access best practices, traceability between Java packages and SQL statements, improved impact analysis, and more. And most importantly, see how new technology can improve not only new development, but existing applications as well. |
||
| 11:45 – 12:45 | Lunch | |
| 12:45 – 2:00 | Case Study: Implementing an Archiving Solution | |
| Steve Rosenberger, FEPOC | ||
In this presentation Baltimore/Washington DB2 Users Group Board Member Steve Rosenberger will present a case study on his organization's implementation of an archiving solution. The Service Benefit Plan Administrative Services Corporation (SBPASC), aka Federal Employee Program Operations Center (FEPOC), a subsidiary of CareFirst BCBS, implemented an archiving solution for their claims DB2 database. Steve will review the factors considered prior to implementation, the implementation plan and process followed, and suggestions for other organizations considering an archiving solution. |
||
| 2:00 – 2:15 | Break | |
| 2:15 – 3:30 | Accelerating Solution Delivery for Data-Driven Applications | |
| Curt Cotner, IBM | ||
Accelerate your existing Java applications, leverage static SQL, reduce cost, and gain insight, reliable performance, problem determination, and control over which SQL is issued from where in your Java applications. Whether your application uses Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), the Java Persistence API (JPA), Hibernate, Spring or IBatis, existing programs can be improved without changing the code. |
