V8 and V9 of DB2 for z/OS have brought locking changes by the bucket full. Your old knowledge just may not apply anymore. This session will cover how certain locking functions used to work compared to how they work now. Topics include new features to take advantage of as well as changes to old features, such as BIND parameters and locking protocol. It also covers how these issues affect programming techniques and data integrity. |

| In every release of DB2, developers strive to introduce performance improvements. This session will cover not only the new performance features but will also cover improvements to old functions. Topics include changes in I/O techniques, optimizer improvements, and new SQL features. | ||

Take I-95 South and exit Rt. 175 West (exit 41B). Travel 6 miles on 175 West. After crossing Rt. 29, go through 5 lights. After the 5th light, make first left onto Wincopin Circle. The Sheraton Columbia Hotel and Conference Center is located at the end of the Wincopin Circle, on the lake. - From Washington and South
Take I-495 East to I-95 to Rt. 32 West. Travel 3 miles North to Rt. 29 North. Travel 2 miles on Rt. 29 North to Broken Land Parkway (exit 18B). Follow signs for Columbia Town Center to Little Patuxent Parkway. Turn right and go through 3 lights. Wincopin Circle is on the right. Go to second entrance of Wincopin Circle and turn right. The Sheraton Columbia Hotel and Conference Center is located at the end of Wincopin Circle, on the lake.

- Bonnie Baker is a consultant and educator specializing in applications performance issues on the DB2 OS/390 and z/OS platforms. She is an IBM DB2 Gold Consultant, a five-time winner of the IDUG Overall Best Speaker award and a member of the IDUG Speakers' Hall of Fame. She is best known for her series of seminars entitled "Things I Wish They'd Told Me 8 Years Ago."
