This seminar will introduce SQL performance basics and filtering, and provide those skills necessary to analyze and improve SQL statements for performance. In addition, advanced SQL will be highlighted along with its performance impact and its use to improve performance. The proper monitoring of systems and SQL will be presented so that the most important SQL will be tuned first. The impact of advanced database objects, such as stored procedures, user-defined functions, triggers and constraints will be discussed in regards to performance. Techniques for the simulation and testing of performance concepts will be presented along with advanced database table and index design for performance. |

Take I-95 South and exit Rt. 175 West (exit 41B). Travel 6 miles on 175 West. After crossing Rt. 29, go through 5 lights. After the 5th light, make first left onto Wincopin Circle. The Sheraton Columbia Hotel and Conference Center is located at the end of the Wincopin Circle, on the lake. - From Washington and South
Take I-495 East to I-95 to Rt. 32 West. Travel 3 miles North to Rt. 29 North. Travel 2 miles on Rt. 29 North to Broken Land Parkway (exit 18B). Follow signs for Columbia Town Center to Little Patuxent Parkway. Turn right and go through 3 lights. Wincopin Circle is on the right. Go to second entrance of Wincopin Circle and turn right. The Sheraton Columbia Hotel and Conference Center is located at the end of Wincopin Circle, on the lake.

- Dan Luksetich is a senior DB2 DBA. He works as a DBA, application architect, presenter, author, and teacher. Dan has been in the information technology business for over 22 years and has worked with DB2 for over 17 years. He has been a COBOL and BAL programmer, DB2 system programmer, DB2 DBA, and DB2 application architect. His experience includes major implementations on z/OS, AIX, and Linux environments. He is co-author of DB2 9 for z/OS Database Administration Certification Study Guide.
